Suzy Hunt

A confection of classic 19th century era decor, Asian influences, cutting edge contemporary, colour and pattern and a clutter of mementoes. It could be the recipe for a frou frou disaster. Instead it is the inspiring and beautiful home of interior designer Suzy Vissers-Hunt (Suzy Hunt) and her husband, co-founder of Moooi, Casper Vissers in the Dutch city of Breda

A cool modern kitchen

I had to share this cool, modern kitchen with you all because black kitchens are a favourite of mine. I do have to say that black countertops suck, as my mom always bitches about hers, and my new house has black and I am quickly learning what a pain it is to keep streak-free. And helloooo herringbone floors that would have been so much more amazing with a light grey wash instead of yellow stain. But otherwise, a totally fab and fun kitchen by Camille Hermand Architectures (Jo blogged another one of their kitchens here). Here are some details: A family of four, with a new baby on the way, live in this large apartment in the chic 7th quarter of Paris. They wanted to the maximise space in their busy family kitchen, by fusing the existing kitchen with the adjoining dining room. To the left, the Zimbabwe black granite work surface runs parallel to the wall of full-length fitted cupboards to the right. The cupboards running under the work surface, which are made-to-measure and hand-painted in mat black emulsion, camouflage discretely the oven and hob. The remaining kitchen appliances are neatly out of sight in the full length cupboards to the right of the room. Running along the wall over the black granite work surface is cement Azulej tiling. In the centre of the full length cupboards is the breakfast hub, with plenty of space for all the necessary breakfast appliances. The back wall of the hub is covered with colourful and graphic wallpaper by Minakani Lab.

Bold and bright

This is for you all you colour lovers out there. This home has bold colour around every corner and to my surprise, I really like it. It is the townhouse of one of London's most established florists and is located in Notting Hill. It is such a fun, energetic mix of florals (of course) and stripes, modern and vintage, textures and colours. And you can rent it. :) Check out the details on Domus Nova

Staircase/bookcase love

Kim and I flit all over the web looking for inspiration. Sometimes we land on a site that the other has already visited. What a bummer! Already posted. Ssssshhhh don't tell anyone but sometimes, very rarely, we post something the other has already featured. Oooops! I loved Isabelle Juy's portfolio when I found L'Atelier d'Archi except Kim had beat me to it (here). Then I saw the staircase. Love at first sight and not in the original post. Hello lover! You're going up on the blog. Inspiration for the stairs in my now not quite so new old house. Mine is nowhere near as grand as this but oh how I lust after the Deborah Bowness wallpaper. The drama, the whimsy, the fun.

Mesmerised

Is it wrong to be mesmerised by a powder room? Walls like smoke swirls or dye unwinding in water. If this was mine I'd be worried that I would spend far too much time in there sitting, lost in the eddies of the Aura wallpaper by Trove. Found in the portfolio of Sutro Architects.
