I don't think I've seen such a lovely entrance hall in ages. The colour, the textures, the mix of old and new, traditional but not at all stuffy, country but not saccharine sweet. Dreaming of a riad by the ocean? Perhaps of diaphanous drapes billowing in the cooling breeze? Of Moorish fretwork and internal courtyards with playing fountains? A fantasy family beach house on the Florida coast comes to life via the imagination and sheer talent of Chelsea Robinson. The al fresco lounging areas in the turret and the gardens, the layering of white upon white ... swoon.
The renovation and extension (a second floor was added) of this 50s era home saw the floor plan reworked and a modern, minimalist approach taken as to materials and textures. The simple colour palette of white with black accents is warmed by wood giving the rooms an almost Scandi vibe but this is no Nordic abode.
