A ranch-inspired home in the Ukraine

Husband and wife team Sergiy and Anna, from Kiev, Ukraine, are long-time readers of our blog and started their own blog called Pufik about 7 years ago. They recently completed their first interior design project, an absolutely stunning ranch-style house in Kiev with inspiration from American brand Restoration Hardware. The earth tones and black accents are really on point and beautiful with the wood details in the home. Outstanding job Sergiy and Anna!

Greige dream

I must admit I was fooled at first. You see I fell for the ornate architectural shell juxtaposed with the severely curated interiors. Luxury held on a very tight rein. Very intoxicating in its minimalism. But it's not real. It's a rendering by Ukraine-based Evgeniy Bulatnikov. Now if it was only real and not a beautiful dream. Sigh.

Green Apartment

Different shades of green and blue are the heroes of the redesign of this 30th floor apartment in Kiev by Oleksii Venediktov and his design firm Special Project Venediktov. Bold, unique, a little Scandinavian with an undercurrent of industrial. I love how the colours change as the light advances and wanes changing the feel of the apartment.

Pink Room by Circle Line

I absolutely love everything about this 60 m² bar in Kiev, Ukraine called Pink Room designed by Circle Line Interiors. From the colour scheme and the glamorous vibe to how it operates. Bar is situated in a historic part of building of old cinema “Kiev” in the centre of the city. Owners of the place wanted to create something that differs from the rest of speakeasy bars which already exist in the city. It was supposed to become the secret place for all cool underground music lovers, for those who appreciate art of cocktail culture, of silent cinema performances and for those who appreciate french style of the beginning of 20th century. Pink room is placed at an old stairway of the cinema, which was closed for the last 10 years. The entrance is behind the replica of Jules Chéret's poster "Exposition universelle de 1889 : Le pays des fées". Instead of Paris our designers painted Kiev's historic Sofia square. To enter speakeasy one has to know secret code on a door, which can be obtained only from the owner of Pink Room. The overall size of the place is 60 square meters.  

Above the exit neon sign “Shhh…” reminds guests of Pink Room's secrets that they should keep to themselves after leaving it.

A penthouse in Kiev

I have never been a fan of condominiums/high-rise apartments. They remind me too much of an office building (where I have worked the past 15 years) and seem so non-homey. This Kiev, Ukraine loft penthouse however, would have me totally converted. This is one of the most considered homes I have ever seen. Every square inch seems to have been carefully thought out, beautifully designed and perfectly executed. I even appreciate the open concept closet. My almost all-black wardrobe would be quite a statement there. Designed by Olga Akulova.
