Liljencrantz Design

Carefully and beautifully curated rooms that are minimalist but not at all sterile. Subtle variations in colour and texture. Elegant and intentional. The hallmark of great Scandinavian design and the signature of Stockholm-based Liljencrantz Design.

Stalking a coach house in Sweden

Today I'm stalking an old coach house just outside the medieval town of Landskrona in Sweden. Beautifully restored with polished concrete floors, exposed brick and old beams the 1850s house is complimented by a small but perfectly formed garden with flowering fruit tree, hammam and Japanese hot tub. I'm dreaming of late spring days spent with good friends and family, bees buzzing in the blossom and lunch just about to be served in the outdoor dining room. Link here while it lasts.

A photographer's newly built home in Copenhagen

Architecture, interior and design practice Studio David Thulstrup knows how to create beauty from something very raw and industrial, making this home a total urban dream. The renowned photographer Peter Krasilnikoff (who took these photos) commissioned us for his private residence in Copenhagen. Our inspiration evolved from worn-out warehouses and factories with their blackened steel and old bricks; a concept which was sparked by the desire to retain the three raw-brick walls of the old garage on site. The design is focused around a central mirror-clad atrium, which floods all three floors of the residence with natural light. The atrium is lush with specially selected grasses, plants and a feature tree which is visible from all floors - creating a central and bright oasis.

A pretty Swedish apartment in a 1930s building

I absolutely adore this apartment for sale in a 1930s buidling in Gothenburg. Many of its original features have been lovingly restored to its former glory such as the beautiful wood floors, limestone window sills, wardrobes and fireplace. Add in some pretty pastel walls, a bit of wallpaper, some gorgeous art and modern furniture, and a bonus mezzanine space and you have quite a beauty. (Thank you Silje for the link to this space on Stadshem).
