Friday night drinks

Heading out for some well deserved Friday night drinks. The hair comes down and the heels go up. Just because it's time to party after a hard week at work doesn't mean the design inspiration has to stop. There are plenty of ideas to steal from Singapore based The Stripe Collective's redesign and rebranding of Oxwell & Co. Striped back to the bare bones interiors, split treatments on the floors, Victoriana chic and a dash of quirk. Join me for drinks?

More please

I'd love to see more of this New York apartment by Marc Webb and Naoko Takenouchi, the husband-and-wife team behind Singapore-based studio Takenouchi Webb, more widely know for their hospitality design. Lots of lovely inspiration from their commercial work over on their site but it was this simple yet stylish apartment that really grabbed me. Yes there are a few more photos on the website but they add nothing to the narrative. A space that I think is really cool should have great shots to really sock it to us.

FARM

FARM is a multi-disciplinary firm based in Singapore, whose work includes interior design and architecture. The Brick Loft is a fun project of theirs where a second floor office was converted into an industrial loft. The perfect home for anyone into very graphic designs, as there are several brick-wall effects throughout the space.

NewsLoop

Desire to Inspire has teamed up with SingTel’s NewsLoop, a ground-breaking e-reader app for iPad and iPhone. Launched just a few months ago in Singapore it's the go to app for News, Health, Food, Home & Décor, Technology and more. SingTel, a leading telecommunications company in Asia based in Singapore, (for Aussie readers SingTel owns Optus), is rolling out the app through 15 other countries such as Malaysia, Hong Kong, India and Australia within 2 years. Actually Indonesia and Australia are next :) So if you are an Asian reader of DTI then NewsLoop is the perfect way to get your daily fix of design.

Singapore apartment

A tiny rundown 550 sqft shoebox flat in Singapore has undergone a remarkable transformation. The owner and her mother needed a stylish and modern home. It was time for a complete rejuvenation by Stanley Tham and Kusnin Tan from KNQ Associates. "While she is not exactly living alone, we wanted to create a chic and functional 'semi-bachelorette pad' which would reflect her personal style as much as possible. We wanted to transform the once ho-hum dwelling into a serene and cozy retreat that she could escape to at the end of a busy day. One which will also not be too feminine." The transformation from before to after is amazing. I particularly like the conversion of a utility room at the back of the kitchen into a private play-and-work room for the owner with built-in seating for lounging and watching TV as well as guest sleep overs. You can read more about the renovation on Home Rejuvenation.
