Please I beg someone with bucket loads of money and bucket loads of good sense, buy this Palm Beach time capsule of a house with a view that is just ridiculous and restore it to its tiki bar, cruise ship, cocktails on the deck former glory. Don't knock it down and build a McMansion on steroids. PLEASE? For sale here while it lasts. (The drone video is stunning.)
Dear readers please lend me a squillion dollars so I can buy this Pearl Beach house designed in 1963 by architect Brian Mazlin, with restoration and interior design by TFAD in 2010. It takes me back to a simpler time, when beach houses sat nestled in bush surrounds, a glimpse of sea and the sound of crashing waves all the decoration you really needed. Simple, honest, practical and probably way too expensive for me because of its exclusive enclave position on Sydney's northern beaches. Other than that it's just too perfect. Today is the day that Australia grinds to a halt ... all for a horse race. Office workers put their computers to sleep and leave phones unanswered. Shop assistants take furtive glances at television monitors between serving dwindling numbers of customers. Ladies lunch in oversized hats and even school children take part in teacher organised sweep stakes. I want to stamp my little foot. I want to roll my eyes and hold my breath. I want to whine and whinge and say it isn't fair. I WANT this warehouse apartment. NEED this warehouse apartment. LOVE this warehouse apartment. Damn you! I can't afford the estimated $1.2 million price tag for this one bedroom apartment in my favourite inner city Sydney suburb of Redfern. (Go the Bunnies!) I'm in Melbourne (Yay Melbourne for the win again!) stalking a family home in Kew. A 4 bedroom family home with pool renovated by a well know Aussie reality TV reno show couple (the bathrooms are a dead giveaway), it recently sold for $2.9 million. Yikes! The real estate market here in Australia is overheated. Still congratulations to them. It's a lovely makeover. Link here while it lasts.
