A Maryland shore cottage

We received the following email from a reader named Lloyd recently: I would like to share some photos of my dear friend's cottage on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. Charlotte Riggs is an artist, teacher and head of middle school in Northern Virginia, where she resides most of the year. She has lovingly decorated her St Michaels shore house with her own art, repurposed furniture and treasures that are meaningful to her.

This cottage is AWESOME! It is quirky and eclectic - filled with style and looks so inviting. I would happily spend a summer long weekend here. Or the whole summer in fact. Charlotte, you rock! And thank you for the great photos Lloyd!
Welcome to Charlotte's funky getaway. :-) (Photos by blonde photo)

Reader's home - Nicole's kitchen renovation

Here goes Nicole of The House Diaries with another newly renovated room in her desperately-in-need of-updating home in Victoria, B.C. I have shared her main floor bathroom and laundry/mudroom, her daughter's bathroom, and now her kitchen is complete. The transformation is shocking, and OH SO BEAUTIFUL!

This is one of the before photos. EEEKKK!!!! You can see the full pre-reno horror in Nicole's post, along with details of her decision making and resource lists. I gathered up some of the after photos to share with you all and I am absolutely in awe of how fantastic this looks. Good job Nicole!!!

A converted storefront in Stockholm

Mattias Wikman emailed us with some beautiful photos of his townhouse-style apartment in Stockholm. The space is an old storefront that was converted into an apartment with a own private entrance and some outdoor space. It is located in the middle of Stockholm in an area called Birkastan. I love that all the walls/ceilings/ductwork etc. are painted white. It makes everything so bright and forms a blank canvas for the furnishings. And it definitively feels like a loft so I really dig that. And Mattias has my favourite quote hanging in the photo below - bonus points!

Reader's home - Margrethe's loft

I am in love with this loft apartment. It is the home of photographer Margrethe Myhrer (Jo featured her work here), her boyfriend Henrik and their baby daughter Alma, located in Majorstua, the west side of Oslo, Norway. Those beams! Those leather dining chairs! The concrete in the kitchen and bathroom! Margrethe's stunning photographs on the walls! AAAHHHHH!!!!! This is a little slice of heaven. And with that, happy Friday dear readers!

P.S. For folks in and around Ottawa, don't forget about the Ottawa Antique Show tomorrow and Sunday. I'll be there so stop by the Daff Design booth and say hi!

Reader's home - Nicole's renovations have begun

In December 2010, Nicole Lamac found her "forever home" in Victoria, BC. She's been documenting the process over on her blog The House Diaires, and recently featured her laundry/mudroom and main floor bathroom renovations. They are FAB-U-LOUS!!!! Let me show you....

The bathroom was a peach nightmare, and had a terrible layout. They started from scratch with the plumbing so were able to redesign the space.

Oh YEAH

Herringbone carrera and white subway tiles...how could you go wrong with that?!?!
