Reader's home - Beth's mid-century transformation

It's so much fun to see what a little paint, blood sweat and tears can do to a home that desperately needs an update. Beth sent us some before and after photos of her home that she's been slaving over for the past year and I am in awe of the transformation. It is now much more modern slathered in white paint, and the kitchen renovation is a ridiculously effective update for not much cash. She's clearly a fan of mid-century modern design so that's a bonus in my book. Here are a few before photos to get you started.

Hold on to your hats folks! Here's what Beth's home looks like now...

Zana's home

Zana Lokmer is an artist, a stylist, a jewellery maker. She lamented to me that she is not a photographer. Zana I love the pictures you have shared with us. A bright and cheery front door with the family rules, a cute as a button kitchen, a cosy living area and a view of a garden and deck I can only dream of. A lovely home full of personal touches. You can find Zana's etsy store here. You may have to race me for a necklace though.

Reader's home - Gaia's house in Italy

Gaia sent in some photos of her home in Bologna, Italy that I had to share. She's got alot of creative touches going on and is really proud of the all decorating she's done herself (as she should be - it's a beautiful home!) but she mentioned her husband thinks it sucks. Oh really now? I don't think he has any idea what he's talking about, and should SHUT UP. :)

Reader's home - Laure's jaw-dropping views

Laure lives in Le Cannet, France. Le Cannet is located on the north of Cannes, on the French Riviera. It is one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen, thanks to Laure's photos of her flat she sent us to share with you all. She has the most picturesque, jaw-dropping views of this glorious city. I am completely envious. (Looking out my upstairs windows at a highway, and downtown Ottawa covered in snow and I'm like, really? Is this the best you can do??? Clearly not the case). Not only does Laure live in heaven, her flat is wonderful, filled with gorgeous antiques (her chandeliers are FAB!) mixed with the always necessary Ikea staples. Laure, I think we'd all love to come crash at your pad.

Reader's home - Nelly's daughter's nursery

This is the first of 2 posts I have for you today that take you into the homes of a couple of our readers. Nelly (a stylist whose work I have featured here, here and here) sent in photos of her daughter's adorable nursery.
I was blessed with a massive room with beautiful floorboards and a decorative fireplace, but I had a very tiny budget. As a result, all furniture are second-hand (including the much-loved rocker) and most decorative items were handmade by family and friends or sourced on Etsy and/or overseas. I'd put a maximal limit of $100 for each piece of furniture and $30 for any decorative items. I only "splurged" on the cocktaoo ceramic lamp ($75) as I had eyed it with envy for a few years... You might notice that I have again used a cow hide. Well, it just happens to be the same that was featured in other of my rooms/shots. It no longer fits into my "new" home (not that new; it's an old cottage in a heritage listed suburb of Perth), except in my daughter's. And as I don't really have the financial resources to invest in another rug at the moment, well, I've used it!
