Having fun with outdoor spaces

As promised here are the balconies, front porch and backyard of Jennifer Scott's former home. As awesome as the interior. It is so important up here in Canada to have inviting outdoor spaces to take advantage of when the weather is decent.

The Chequit

Is it just me or is this week d-r-a-g-g-i-n-g along? I just can't take anymore. Time for a virtual getaway and since summer has just begun in the northern hemisphere how about we run away to the Hamptons? To Shelter Island to be precise. I've booked us into the quaint but cool boutique inn The Chequit. Trad with a twist and a soothing pink, yellow and grey palette ... inside that is. A lakeside weekend home

This lakeside weekend home in North Carolina is an absolute DREAM! (And OMG it's a WEEKEND home?!?!) As I always say, a 'cottage' is where you can get away with anything. Here, the owners nixed the idea of a dining room in favour of a deep upholstered niche and shuffleboard table, and instead of a traditional boat dock opted for a 'party dock' - a floating lounge complete with wet bar, TV, swimmer's platform and loungey furnishings. There's even a bedroom converted into a gym with climbing wall. All made absolutely beautiful thanks to interior designer Heather Garrett. Perfectly rustic yet perfectly sophisticated and the perfect summer hangout. (In case you missed Heather's loft, it's here)

I'm on the porch

"Hi! Come on through. I'm out here on the porch." That would be my usual greeting to callers if I owned this Upstate New York home by CWB Architects. I might just never move. A place to daydream and drift off, a place to relax, to listen to the gurgle of the stream that runs by. I think the one thing I love more than that porch is the property's name ... Bug Acres of Woodstock. Now you know the reason for the porch.

Porch

I have always loved big porches. When big enough they're like a whole other room. To curl up with a book and a glass of wine, wrapped up in a blanket, enjoying the fresh air.....
