Monochrome mastery

Like a modernist sand castle this Malibu house by Jamie Bush is a master class in monochromatic palette and texture. The colours of shell and sand and stone are repeated and enhanced in this sea side retreat with rough and handmade juxtaposed with the modern and clean lined. The perfect counterfoil to all limited colour palette is, of course, the endless blue of the sea and the sky.

Sea Cliff home

I tend to love bold colour palettes (ie. dark) but this house has totally thrown me for a loop. I absolutely adore the neutral shades of this home designed by SVZ Interior Design. It is so bright and soothing yet classy and elegant. This project was a full remodel that included a new guest house, master bathroom, kitchen and guest bathrooms. The whole home was refreshed with paint colors and light fixtures as well as a complete furnishing design. The style that the home homeowner wanted was neutral but textural; classic but interesting. We layered many elements of traditional, transitional, modern and eclectic furnishings to make the space feel timeless. (For more of Sayre Victoria Ziskin's work check out this post)

Sensual simplicity

If my last post had you averting your eyes in horror perhaps something more monochromatic, more soothing is in order. If you prefer your colour limited to discrete pops and not as a rollicking riot then this home on the Rue St Sauveur, Paris may be more to your liking. Sensual sophistication tempered by rustic chic and artisan industrial by Patricia Miyamoto Architecture.
