The Farm

On 100 acres with a view of Lake Ontario sits The Farm. Architect Cindy Renderly's clients wanted something modern but appropriate for the country. A gabled roof line is in keeping with a typical barn structure, but inside it's minimalist and not-so-farm-like. Cindy used Douglas fir plywood on the ceilings to add warmth, and it's a beautiful choice. An artist's studio is an added bonus, separated from the main house by a courtyard. Despite being a tad bleak looking in the winter, this must be such a peaceful retreat, especially in summer.

Central London apartment

The flexible design of the space within this London home allows it to be used by in a number of ways by family members. A pied-à-terre at one end with loft bedroom, turn another way, open the doors and now a three bedroom flat. The folding screens providing privacy to the loft are polycarbonate. A modern redesign with elegant Victorian proportions by VW + BS Architecture and Design.

Nixon Tulloch Fortey encore

It has been a little while since Jo featured Melbourne architects Nixon Tulloch Fortey so I thought I would do a little update on their stellar designs. They are all about minimal architecture on the inside and maximum impact on the outside. This first kitchen, despite me not usually liking all white kitchens, has me totally drooling. It is just so clean and sleek! I love this firm.
