Not too shabby!

What an amazing house. Bedroom after bedroom, bathroom upon bathroom of vintage meets shabby, swedish meets upmarket fabrics, calm and stylish,  family friendly and fun. I'd kill for an entry hall that big. A dream. From my new favourite locations site 1st Option. You'll find this beauty here.

(You'll also notice a small change to our layout. Our posts now continue after the fold. You'll need to click on the link below to continue to see more gorgeous pictures but it will help with page loading times and allow us to show even more fabulous images.)

Loft conversion

I was back on Location Partnership checking for more funky pads (since this one was such a hit), and I came across another amazing space - a "loft conversion with many original features and sleek interior. The property compromises cast iron radiators, Victorian porcelain brickwork, old de-commissioned lift and exposed wooden beams". WOW. This loft is huge and I could cram it with so much stuff it's giving me heart palpitations. The potential is astronomical, although the current residents have done not too bad a job doing it up.

How much is too much?

I found this warehouse conversion on Location Partnership the other day and it had me cracking up. I wasn't sure whether to run away screaming or gasp in delight (although leaning much closer to running away). The site says this home is a testament to the wonderful world of kitsch. I don't even know if I'd call this kitsch - it's more just a collection of completely random vintage pieces. But maybe that's the definition of kitsch. So I goggled "kitsch" and Wikipedia says "Contemporaneously, kitsch also (loosely) denotes art that is aesthetically pretentious to the degree of being in poor taste, as well as, applying to industrially-produced art-items that are considered trite and crass." So maybe it is kitsch. :) What do you think? Love it or hate it? Would living here make you insane?

4 0 W i N K S

Back in May I shared the work of designer David Carter, but what I didn't realize then was that many photos in his portfolio were of his own home that is often used as one of London's most popular and successful location houses. And with two rarely used guest bedrooms, 4 0 W i N K S is being launched to help give photographers, stylists, art directors, designers, buyers, models and anyone in the creative and fashion industries somewhere fun and different to stay when they are in London for work or pleasure. It's bold, romantic, whimsical, quirky, glamourous - I'd stay there in a heartbeat. (Thanks to reader Bernadette for sending the link!)
