One of our favourite sites for inspiration is Freunde von Freunden. People, photography, video .... beautiful! Have you seen their latest piece on Uli Mayer-Johanssen, head of Berlin branding agency MetaDesign? Swoon. Freunde von Freunden kindly sent us a few images to share. An amazing home, an amazing woman. More pictures (by Philipp Langenheim for Freunde von Freunden) and an inspiring interview here.

A different perspective

How cool is this house by German architecture firm Kraus Schönberg?! The lower level is open-concept and cut into the ground to create a sightline directly across the property so the views are all about the landscape. This is such a great idea if there are hieight restrictions that need to be respected. It allows the house to be lower than average but gives you an amazing amount of light even when partially underground. Simple yet so effective.

Föhr

Take me away this long, lonely Monday to the island of Föhr off the north coast of Germany. To a hay barn cleverly converted to a holiday home. Ancient brick and thatch enclose a modern renovation that references the island's history of bed-boxes and the traditional blue green colours of Friesland. Wood and tile and 500m of blue polypropylene rope. By Swedish firm Karin Matz Arkitekt.

Sabrina Rothe latest

I could not be more grateful it's Friday. It's been a crazy week, and I'm ready for some time off the day job to knock some items off of my to-do list, including photographing some new things around my house - hopefully to feature here on Sunday. My photos won't be as fantastic as these by German photographer Sabrina Rothe. I love how she takes advantage of natural sunlight to add a magical quality to the spaces she captures. (Check out more of her work featured by Jo here)
