Working on a Saturday
You must be sick of me saying it week after week but it still holds true. If you have to drag your sorry self into work on a weekend it better be somewhere stylish. Amen. Fjord Helsinki by Studio Joanna Laajisto.

It's Scandi monochrome done right. A stark, limited palette warmed by exposed brick accents and a rug of muted jewel colours. As for the piano! Love it. Private residence by Helsinki-based interior designer Laura Seppänen.
This breezy and all-white two-room apartment is the latest project sent over to Desire to Inspire by Laura Seppänen Design Agency. It's the brand new home of Stina Mäntyniemi, the head of Cosmopolitan Finland and featured recently in Deko Magazine. The client's wish was for a clean and monochrome interior. No carpets, no curtains. The Bertoia chair was though an absolute must. The look is cosy, minimalist Scandinavian with a palette of paperwhites used on walls, floors and ceilings. The existing kitchen was in a relatively good shape just updated with new cabinet doors, sink, faucet and the old door pull painted matt black. The counter top is Carrara marble. Laura incorporated the client's existing furniture with carefully selected pieces from Finland and abroad, Scandinavian classics mixed with new Nordic brands. Just like the lightbox says - I want it all.
The client's wish was for a hotel room vibe without colour for this two room apartment in the centre of Helsinki so Finnish interior designer Laura Seppänen mixed charcoal tones with warm wood and cool posters to create a stylish, monochrome interior. Laura explains she wanted to showcase Finnish design with most of the furniture is either handmade in Finland or from Finnish furniture brands such as Adea & Valanti. Other Scandinavian brands like BoConcept & Menu also feature and those fab posters are from The Poster Club. Not only did Laura create this beautiful apartment she styled the shoot with photographer Suvi Kesäläinen. She's even let us in on the sources for the key pieces which you can find at the end of the post.
