Nick's place

I eagerly await each new month at Domino. No not the magazine but the website. I can't find the magazine here in Australia so the monthly online update is my eagerly awaited fix. And this month's held a pleasant surprise, more photos of Nick Olsen's home. I know it has been featured in the magazine (and we've posted the first 2 pictures before) but I, along with most of our overseas readers, haven't seen it. Nick has a great sense of style. It's witty, classic yet electic with lashings of Hollywood Regency thrown in and embraces colour in all its glory. I loved it when I saw the first few pictures now the room is more complete for me.

P.S. I've just noticed that Anna has posted her favourites from this months Domino on Absolutely Beautiful Things. If you haven't been to her website you're in for a treat!

Welcome to Greg's home!

Hi Jo,
This is my own apartment where I live. I wanted to show you this because it shows our versatility as designers. We are known for doing spaces with print and colour so this space shows another look, its dark, moody and sexy. With my own space I wanted to express a very personal response which makes this space original as only I own these experiences. I hope you know what I mean. I drew on my Italian/Australian background, basically I was pushing “wog chic"! The baroque chair is from the family home and the chandelier and bed head are pieces that I saw in my uncles houses in the 80s. At the time I thought they where the height of utter revoltingness but now appreciate their beauty and kitschness. I love the irony of turning something that I thought was ugly into some beautiful. This adds another dimension to a room. I wanted this space to be a place where I came home at the end of the day and feel fantastic and when I go to bed to FEEL LIKE Joan Collins snuggling up in my fur bedspread. We all work hard and we deserve to feel extraordinary. Anyway I hope you like this project, there is more to come!

Another apartment I really love ..... again!

Dark, sensuous, sophisticated this Sydney apartment by Craig Spencer speaks of big city living, world travel and the finer things in life. A night time space it cocoons you in its luxury and provides the perfect counterpoint to that view. More of Craig's inspiring work in the post below.

Isn't meant to be

My husband and I are in the process of apartment hunting. Or rather we were until we decided to buy farm equipment for our business instead. Thought we’d put the hunt off for a few more months. What always happens when you’ve just spent a fist full of cash? The perfect place lands in your internet lap. I’ve found it and I can’t have it. The auction is in 2 weeks. It would have been at the top of our price range but possible unless a bidding war broke out. I love it. I think it would look great in a boho Scandinavian vibe. I’ve placed all my belongings in their perfect spots and chosen a few different colours. All in my imagination. Guess that’s where they’ll stay unless .....

P.S. Forgive me if I don't give the exact link. Don't want any competition in case we go for it.
P.P.S. Anna is this some of your work?

Can I live here please?

This apartment by Messana O'Rorke combines loft space and the renovation of of an existing sprinkler tank house into an urban retreat. A spiral staircase leads to the roof top terrace and THAT tank house. Love it all. So want to live here!
