An Australian beachside luxe family home

Just because it's a family home doesn't mean you can't have those extra touches, the luxe finishes, the custom cabinetry, the well considered design. Sydney- based multi-disciplinary design studio The Designory gets it just right with this Bronte house. Love the open plan living, the fabulous kitchen, the rumpus room opening to the garden but most of all it's about the details for me. Did you notice the shoe storage under the custom wardrobes?

One more from InForm Design, a townhouse, one of three in a row. Contemporary Australian design done well. I think my favourite bit is the hallway/staircase. I love the sense of transition, the attention given to the process of travel between public and private, the light that floods into what could have been a long, dark corridor.

From design to construction, that's the holistic approach of Melbourne-based InForm Design. Their Alphington house consists of two halves. The two-storey ‘Quad’ front section is designed to take advantage of park views from the first floor master bedroom and lounge. Out back is a single storey pavilion containing the living areas separated by a concrete block double-sided fireplace. These spaces spill out to the alfresco entertaining spaces and pool.

Working on a Saturday

As I always say ... if you have to drag yourself into work on a weekend while everyone else is having fun then it should be somewhere stylish and inspiring. I could almost give up sitting in a cafe with my friends if I could sit in the company cafe with my colleagues. CIP Flinders Lane offices in Melbourne by EMKC.

Workplace inspiration

Architect and property developer Adelene Teh of Beulah International is a firm believer that staff are at their most innovative when relaxed. Her design for her company's head office uses monochrmatic and earthy tones, high ceilings, a wall of greenery and is washed in beautiful natural light. “My vision was to create a space that people love to work in and a space that encourages interaction, team work and communication, which is achieved through the juxtaposition of corporate and residential design characteristics, ” says Adelene. What she has created is a relaxed yet professional space that is beautiful and functional.
