Michael Graydon

Michael Graydon is a familiar name to me, as he regularly shoots for Canadian House & Home and Style at Home magazines. He has an amazing talent, creating such fresh and bright photos. Plus, some of his photos are immediately going into my inspiration folder....such as this one below:

I mean, can pink stairs BE ANY CUTER?!?! I have to repaint mine as the white I chose isn't the right shade, and I'm wondering if I can muster up that much courage.

I have neighbours who can look down into my backyard, and another project on my todo list is to create some privacy on part of my deck. When I saw the next two photos I freaked. It's what I've been dreaming about since I bought my house.

April Tidey

The May issue of Canadian House & Home is one of my all-time favourite issues. This is due mainly because of the feature of Vancouver designer April Tidey's loft and cottage (some photos of which are below). They are filled with such creative and eclectic ideas, and such a variety of different styles. This appears to be her signature look, the mix of ornate antiques, mid century modern furnishings and bold accessories. I LOVE that, because it creates such intriguing spaces where you're bound to find something eye-catching at every turn.

The photography below is that of Heather Ross, a multi-talented Vancouverite who not only takes fabulous photos but has a boutique of antique finds, accessories, textiles, her photography etc. and also creates stunning paintings that she sells in her shop. Do go have a looksie here.

James Tse

Over a year ago I showed you some amazing photography by Toronto's James Tse. As he is one of my favourite Canadian photographers whose work is everywhere you turn, I thought it was time for another post. Beautiful spaces, beautifully photographed.

A heavenly bathroom

I received an email this morning that totally made my day. Here's what Dylan wrote: "I just wanted to write as a local Ottawan and say that I am a big fan of your blog and follow it daily. If you're interested, I've attached a couple of pics of my bathroom that we completed last year. I'm a future designer (currently in school) and this is my first real project. It is in keeping with the style that your blog seems to feature (neo-baroque?). Anyhow, thanks for posting so many amazing pics! Its nice to see good design does exist in Ottawa!" This renovated bathroom is straight out of my dreams. And since I have 2 totally awful bathrooms to redo eventually, I think I'll be looking Dylan up for some advice and sources. Be still my heart. (Dylan, you've got an amazing career ahead of you).

Genevieve Wiseman

Genevieve Wiseman is a prop stylist from Toronto who has worked for some of my favourite Canadian magazines like House & Home and Style at Home, and has worked with several photographers we've featured. She was kind enough to send over some more photos than she currently has on her website. So pretty, and so beautifully styled. Lovely Genevieve!
