When modern is warm

I had to share another to-die-for home designed by the talented folks of cityhomeCOLLECTIVE. Modern and a bit mid-century, with black and brass accents to add some drama and wood to keep things warm. I want that kitchen soooo badly, but I would settle for the rug in the space above.

I'll take a window seat

I have always had a thing for cozy seating areas like banquettes and window seats. It seems Julie Goldman of J.Latter Design and the owners of this home in New Orleans share this obsession. Happy weekend!

A London residence by Kingston Lafferty Design

I am a huge fan of the unique, eclectic style of Dublin-based interior architecture and design firm Kingston Lafferty. This project is filled with random awesomeness, including glimpses into a dreamy kitchen. The brief was to create a cooking/dining experience that felt like a buzzing restaurant. The aim of the kitchen/dining area design is to add some excitement, fun and design flair within the existing walls of the house. Photos: Barbara Corsico

A renovated 1940's home in Seattle

When unexpected styles collide. A fabulous home designed by Seattle-based Brio Interior Design. A 1940's home where the client's mother spent her teenage years was purchased from the grandfather's estate shortly after his passing. The purchase and renovation were a way to reinvent history by making an old home new again for the young family who decided the house carried too many precious memories to be sold to the next highest bidder. Perched atop a generously sized waterfront lot in north Seattle with panoramic views of the Puget Sound, the Olympic Peninsula and Olympic mountain range, the aesthetic of the home is classic meets modern and eclectic. It's fun, colorful and whimsical. Perfect for a family that dines most days together in a formal dining room around a table that family members have gathered at for decades to celebrate the best things in life.

A French bistro style kitchen

Dear gawd I adore this kitchen also by Qanuk Interiors Inc.! This is what I envision what my existing tiny kitchen has the potential to be. And you can never go wrong with a french bistro style. Subway tile (I love this longer, thinner version) with dark grout is always a winner. Add in some black steel & glass shelving for a not-so-typical open shelving option and dark lower cabinets and you have a winner! Industrial style lighting installed on the hood fan - why not if lacking space? I always love a good banquette and this one is VERY GOOD. Black leather + gorg brass light fixture = LOVE!!!
