Cath Muscat

Sydney photographer Cath Muscat understands light. She captures it and plays with it and produces images at times earthy and sultry at others crisp and clean. Australian readers will know her work from local magazines such as Vogue Entertaining + Travel. Take the time to view her other portfolios. The flowers you can smell, the food is delish and her portraits are powerful with character.

Diane Bergeron

Many of you may already be familiar with Diane Bergeron. Interior design services and fabric showroom are labels that don't do justice to her fab, eclectic, high meets low, flea market with glam style. It's colourful, fun and always cheeky just like all the best things Australian. Her website is a treat and her blog gives you an insight into the hectic but stylish day to day of her firm. As rep for some of the most innovative fabric collections coming out of the States (think Rubie Green, Madeline Weinrib, Of the Young and the Restless, John Robshaw and Carolina Irving) her Melbourne showroom is a mecca for designers and style mavens in the know. Here is just a taste of her work. Please Santa can I have that wall of books for Christmas?

Stalking in Melbourne

Today I'm stalking the streets of Fitzroy, an inner city suburb of Melbourne (and perhaps my favourite area in that city). This is the architect's own home. Which architect the real estate agent neglects to tell us but we are informed it has 4 bedrooms, open plan living, indoor outdoor living and intelligent design. I love the sense of continuity between the living areas and the garden so important in Australian houses. It's a normal working day here in Australia but I know that the States are celebrating Thanksgiving (not a holiday we have here). I hope you all have a wonderful time with your family today but if you're a Thanksgiving orphan or all "familied" out then pop on over and join me later for a virtual drink in this backyard. Gift box

Aussie wonder architect Scott Weston sent us a little gift box via email. Oh Scott you shouldn't have! You're spoiling us. (Just pop Scott's name in the search box on the left to see how generous he has been already.) Here's what he had to say...

"We end up doing the most intriguing commissions for our Clients. Australia's Harper's Bazaar wanted a unique selling tool that targeted their advertisers for an upcoming magazine. They had heard we do intricate Concept Boxes and came to us to devise twin boxes that could be taken to advertisers as a seductive selling tool. In each box we have replicated a runway of the Bazaar Collections and have models representing the various luxury brands Hermes, Burberry etc. For each specific presentation the model is magnetised and can be fitted into the box and when the box is opened the focus is on that particular brand. All models are located in a separate magnetised box a bit like the Chinese terracotta soldiers awaiting their turn on the catwalk. On completion of the presentation it elegantly folds away leaving them wanting more!"

Scott, you and your team produce the most amazing presentation tools I've ever seen. Your boxes and models are a treat. Just when I didn't think your could top your Nagata Salon model you create this treasure. It's like grown up paper dolls!

Paradise is coloured blue

Blue. It's the colour of paradise. I never knew that until this morning when I was turning the pages of a magazine and drinking coffee. I saw an ad for one of the Great Barrier Reef's latest resorts Qualia, world-class luxury, situated on the secluded northern-most tip of Hamilton Island. With winter setting in in the Northern Hemisphere I dedicate these blue soaked shots of paradise to all the northern readers watching the thermometer plunge. Wicked of me to tease you.
