Compass & Rose

I have some kitchen love to spread today. These 2 kitchens by London interior design firm Compass & Rose are the bees knees! Butcher block, matte black cabinetry, industrial and mid-century touches, reclaimed wood, subway tiles...they have it all. And then stellar photos (by Alexis Hamilton) to boot!

Reader's home - Kiki's London home

It has been a while since we have featured a reader's home, so I am excited to share one with you today. Kiki is a Brazilian married to a Canadian (an Ottawan specifically - WOOT!) and they have been living in this Crouch End, North London home for 3 years now. They have recently done a loft conversion, adding a master bedroom ensuite, walk in wardrobe and laundry. DTI was a big source of inspiration for Kiki and I think she has done an awesome job. I love the accent walls - cool wallpapers and black always wins in my book. Fab tile choices in the bathrooms as well. This home is stunning, as all London homes seem to be. I want to hug those wood floors. Thanks Kiki!

Most of the artwork is Kiki's - she's a mixed media artist.

Hump day hideaway

Kevin Dumais' tiny apartment

This was at one point Kevin Dumais' apartment. A Manhattan studio on the Upper East Side that is only 350 sq ft. It used to be painted butter yellow and baby blue, but Kevin had his way with it and spiffed it up into a proper gentleman's quarters. This was several years ago mind you and I am hoping he has managed to move up. Because I frankly can't imagine living in so little space for very long, especially since he was working from home.
