Located on the Italian island of Capri, Capri Suite is a modernized 2 suite hotel designed by ZETASTUDIO Architects. It was originally part of the St. Micheles’ convent built in the XVII century, and the juxtaposition of the rustic architecture with modern furnishings makes this a pretty funky hotel IMHO.
If you'd like to send me photos to include in next week's "pets on furniture" post, please ensure your photos follow my basic rules: First, the pet must be on a piece of furniture. And said piece of furniture must be clearly visible in the photo, so it takes center stage rather than your pet. Think of it more of a photo of a great piece of furniture that you want to show off...and your pet happens to be sitting on it. And second, if the photo is too dark or unfocused then it may not make the cut. I need your thoughts. Is it wrong for a woman in her 50s to strap on a backpack and head to Barcelona? Check into a hostel? Belly up to the bar? Is it? When the hostel looks as great as Generator Barcelona? And when I'm finished I can jump a train to Venice, London, Copenhagen and more.
I've highlighted Brazilian photographer Fran Parente's work before. It's hard not to as he has snapped the work of many of Brazil's hottest architects and designers. What I love most about his work is his ability to capture the personality of these spaces. Bold, quirky, strong, theatrical and even, at times, real. Fantasy and fact. Brilliant.
I often get tired of homes that don't look like anyone actually lives there (often the case of architects' portfolios). Perhaps that is why this apartment took my breath away. It is the Chueca, Madrid apartment of British-born photographer Adrian Tyler. It is located in a building built in 1894 and maintains much of the original features, but includes some new touches such as 3 tons of tile from Morocco for the kitchen and bathroom. Throw in some mid-century furniture classics, Adrian's photography and a sh*tload of books and you've got some pretty sweet digs. (Via Neuvo Estilo)
