Monday's pets on furniture

If you'd like to send me photos to include in next week's "pets on furniture" post, please ensure your photos follow my basic rules: First, the pet must be on a piece of furniture. And said piece of furniture must be clearly visible in the photo, so it takes center stage rather than your pet. Think of it more of a photo of a great piece of furniture that you want to show off...and your pet happens to be sitting on it. And second, if the photo is too dark or unfocused then it may not make the cut. Photos, your name, location and a brief description can be sent to desiretoinspirekim@hotmail.com and PLEASE don't send closeups of your pet! Thanks!

This was the first piece of furniture I acquired. Buddy (the brown dog) immediately claimed it as his. My second dog, who is not featured in this picture, decided we needed to redecorate and kindly removed the fabric from the upper cushion while we were out one day. So, I did some rudimentary recovering. Now our new foster dog, Simon, has decided that he fits too :) Its still my favorite chair in the house!
p.s. Simon has difficulty getting around due to bum knees. We are trying to raise money to repair both his knees and help him find his "forever home".  https://www.giveforward.com/fundraiser/szb3/surgery-for-simon

I'm sending you photo of our cat Mana. She's enjoying classic 30's armchair we inherited from great-grandma.

Ufogel

Like a UFO landed in an alpine village or a retro caravan stopped in its travels, perhaps a sculptural bird or even a chicken coop perched next to an old timbered farmhouse, Ufogel (UFO plus the German word for bird, Vogel) is a 45 m2 larch wood getaway in the village of Nußdorf in the East Tyrolean region of Austria. Look at the views. It would be like sitting, sipping wine and reaching out to touch heaven. I might not include you in this Monday escape. Hope you don't mind. I'd like to share it with my blind husband. I want to describe every inch of that view.

Canal House

Monday means escape day. Run away from the beginning of the work week and dream of faraway places. Enter the dark and moody luxury of the Canal House boutique hotel in Amsterdam's Jordaan district. Waiting within is a secret green oasis bathed in dappled light. Light and dark, old and new, drawing inspiration from Dutch history and art. Shall we run away to the dark side? Work can wait.

Stalking leftovers

Time for a few weekend house stalking inspections. I've been all over the place, searched high and low, near and far and opened the virtual door on scores of homes this week in my pursuit of the perfect home. But as you know I'm very fussy when it comes to my virtual real estate stalking. Finicky, particular, choosy, picky and hard to please. Not quite right, bad photos, more photos please, house is amazing furniture is deplorable, can't quite put my finger on it listings but all with something that has me nodding "yes". This week's finds include an amazing 2 floor apartment in central Sydney with views to die for and an undisclosed price tag which will kill (built by Barry Humphries 30 years ago), a church conversion that is OTT but has some interesting levels, an historic mansion with its own chapel, a lovely art deco flat that really needs better photos, a couple of cute loft spaces one with a killer location and an assortment of houses large and small, colourful and beige. Click on the images to head to the listings. All via realestate.com.au.
