A home with style and serenity

OH YESSSSSS!!!! This Australian house pushes all the right buttons, and is the ultimate dose of eye candy on a Sunday. It belongs to Simone Haag (design and communications manager at architecture firm Hecker Guthrieand her husband Rhys. Hecker Guthrie helped them transform this 1960's rundown 3 bedroom cottage into a home that is simply stunning. Neutral shades including lots of creamy walls and ceilings (I think I prefer this to stark white) and furniture with a midcentury Scandinavian vibe make this a home that whispers 'serenity now'. Stalking leftovers

I'm very finicky when it comes to my virtual real estate stalking. Fussy, particular, choosy, picky and hard to please. Not quite right, bad photos, more photos please, can't quite put my finger on it listings but all with something that has me nodding "yes". Here is my almost made it shortlist for the week. It includes an over the top black and white cliché but OMG it's all about location, location, a kiln ... yes a kiln with chimney stacks in the living room and a second bedroom that's not really a second bedroom. Click on the images to head to the listings, all via realestate.com.au.

Simplicity

Hydeaway house

Have you ever wondered what the vacation home of an architect might look like? Neil Schwartz of Schwartz and Architecture designed this Hydeaway house in Sonona, California for himself, his spouse and their dogs, with the hopes of eventually retiring here. It's 2000 sq ft of midcentury modernism on one acre surrounded by vineyards. The main house sleeps six and a separate guest house sleeps two. Oh - and you can rent it. :-)

60s modern

Carnsworth House, a classic mid century house revived by Jackson Clements Burrows. A 1960's vibe with a modern twist with an interior that is family friendly and stylishly functional. I bet it didn't look good the first time round ;)
