Emma Cross

Photographers really do have one of the best jobs in the world, in my humble opinion anyway. To get to experience such incredible homes, and capture their beauty artistically through a lens would be a dream. The homes talented Australian photographer Emma Cross has been fortunate to experience first hand are stunning and unique, as are her photos.

Monday's pets on furniture

If you'd like to send me photos to include in next week's "pets on furniture" post, please ensure your photos follow my basic rules: First, the pet must be on a piece of furniture. And said piece of furniture must be clearly visible in the photo, so it takes center stage rather than your pet. Think of it more of a photo of a great piece of furniture that you want to show off...and your pet happens to be sitting on it. And second, the photo must be of decent quality. If it's dark or fuzzy then it may not make the cut. Photos, your name, location and a brief description can be sent to desiretoinspirekim@hotmail.com and PLEASE don't send closeups of your pet! Thanks!

I have two cats (Blondie and Nixon) that like to make themselves very comfortable on my retro leather chair and always love to pose for the camera when I'm taking photos of our home.
- Jess

The dachshund on the chair is Alfie and the cat on the patio table is Rosie. Just another day in the life of two lazy pets. : )
- Sara (Lexington, KY)

Elmo (golden doodle) enjoying the early summer breeze on the couch!
- Paul (Wapakoneta, OH)

Hardly you can see the furry companion on my bed :)
- Julia (Fredericton, NB)

This is Lola. This is my new couch and cushions that i love, and i think she does too!

Wrightson Stewart

Brisbane based interior design firm Wrightson Stewart create sleek, stylish, masculine spaces, clean lined and contemporary. Their work is sharp like a well honed knife cutting through the frou frou and excessive. Unless you like your minimalist luxury in excess that is. With their latest design for a Teneriffe Warehouse Apartment shortlisted for both the Australian Interior Design Awards 2013 and 2013 HOUSES Award (and coming soon to Desire to Inspire, right guys?) principals Steven Stewart and Ian Wrightson have shared images of their inner city studio and a pop up bar for the La Boite Theatre with us to whet our appetites until the awards are announced.

A renovated attic in Romania

This Bucharest attic space stayed unclaimed for many years until the owner put the project into the hands of Atelier and Jurnal de design interior. At only 50 sq m the sense of space is heightened by the angles of the ceilings and the wonderful light that floods the open plan areas. Exposed brick and the old beams provide contrast to the sleek white walls and polished floor boards. A modern space sitting comfortably in its historic shell.

The first step in any attic renovation is proper cleanup and insulation installation. This needs to be handled in a safe and non hazardous way.
