A modern city garden

The rain is bucketing down here. A month's rain will fall in one day as an ex tropical cyclone winds slowly down the coast. Schools are closed and even the government has sent non essential staff home. (I can't complain as many to the north of me have lost houses and livelihoods as the cyclone made landfall.) There is a silver lining to all this water falling from the skies. My garden will drink it in, the grass will turn green and my water tanks will overflow. With all this promised bounty to come I'm daydreaming of stylish urban gardens like this new design in inner-Sydney Leichardt by Adam Robinson Design in collaboration with Garden Society.

A New York townhouse

I get excited when I find architects who maintain as many original features as possible when renovating homes. especially when it comes to gorgeous New York townhomes and brownstones. This townhouse on 6th Avenue is pretty simple but the details are so yummy including marble fireplace surround and pocket doors with patterned glass inserts. A casually elegant Pacific Palisades home

I was crushing hard on this home designed by Venice Beach, CA based interior designer Katherine Carter, and then I discovered the homeowner is Lauren Conrad. :)  It is really beautiful - so bright and I adore the casual-elegant vibe. That large white kitchen with black hardware and subway tiles makes me forget I have a thing with black kitchens. And then that dining room! And the Ellie Cashman wallpapered dressing room! Gorg!!! Parkside family home

Come on in. It's another fabulous London home by Sigmar. Contemporary meets vintage, beautiful architectural details, a muddied palette of greys, golden timber accent pieces, lots of storage and mirrors bouncing light. A warm family home with loads of character.

Hotel Chelsea

DAYUM!!!! I could stare at these first 2 photos allllll day. There is nothing I love more than a dark, dramatic, sexy space. And folks, this is a spot-on example of being able to create dark and dramatic without having to paint walls black. In this case the dark really pops against the white. And I typically hate white walls. Ultra fabulous work by Chicago designer Kara Mann
