I was reading a magazine the other day (Elle Decoration perhaps) and came across some gorgeous photos by the talented David Woolley. According to his website he has worked for many of the top mags (Marie Claire, Wallpaper, GQ), commercial campaigns and celebrity portraits (hottie Jason Statham!!). I fell in love with the diversity of his interior portfolio - some modern, some mid-century, some dark and moody....and all perfectly captured.
Beautiful, hermoso, smukke, bell, mooi, belle, schön, όμορφη, bello, vakker, piękny, frumos, красивый, vackra, güzel, belo, 美しい. I think I really need to own this house. I have a love hate relationship with my stalking addiction. I find beauty on a Melbourne street corner and I am smitten but could never buy it. Perhaps I can afford just the outside. Yes just the outside, maybe. Link here while it lasts.
If you'd like to send us photos to include in next week's "pets on furniture" post, please ensure your photos follow our basic rules: First, the pet must be on a piece of furniture. And said piece of furniture must be clearly visible in the photo, so it takes center stage rather than your pet. Think of it more of a photo of a great piece of furniture that you want to show off...and your pet happens to be sitting on it. And second, the photo must be of decent quality. If it's dark or fuzzy (from a camera phone) then it may not make the cut. Thanks! I've come to terms with the fact that my white chaise has become a permanent dog bed. Visiting miniature dachshund Mo enjoys a place in the sun.

I thought I would pass on this picture of Peanut (on the left) and Olive (on the right) at our Fluevog head office. Olive is just 16 weeks and loves my co-workers pup Peanut (3years), they are the best of buds here at the John Fluevog office. The sofa was an antique that sat in John's first store, Fox and Fluevog in Gastown over 40 years ago and has seen the backsides of many a famous and non famous fluevoggers. I recently got it restored and recovered in this Peacock colored velvet. It is a perfect place to sit for lunch or to admire these Frenchies general splendor.

My fiance picked up this little cat bed to keep out white/black cat off our grey couch. So far it's panned out for all of us. When he's not getting hair all over my pants.

I hope this photo fits...It's a pic of a couple of society finches. The cage stands on a piece of furniture I got from my friend , from Ireland. I'm also proud of my book shelf and my plants :-D

Here are a few of my favourite things... my Louis-style chair from Horgans, my screenprinted shoes cushion from La Cerise Sur Le Gateau and my little man, Rascal. He is a Pomeranian x Chihuahua. He is not normally allowed upstairs in the bedroom, but I have been sick, so I guess he caught me at a weak moment.

If you've seen the Inside Out 2011 Annual Renovating & Decorating Guide (and you must see the Inside Out 2011 Annual Renovating & Decorating Guide) you'll recognise the converted stables home of gallerist Stuart Shave. I found it again at inspace Locations and the architect David Kohn's site. Open-plan orientated around a simple modernist fireplace, light spills in through walls of glass. It's warm and simple, mid-century and modern. Rough brick is smoothed with white paint, rustic and sparse yet sophisticated and softened. And for an art dealer strangely devoid of art. Moroccan pom-pom blanket anyone?
I heard about the book New York Rooftop Gardens and I had to get my hands on a copy. I find New York very intriguing, and I hope to one day finally make a point of visiting (and shopping!!!). I've lived in Ottawa all my life and despite it being the capital city of Canada, it's relatively small (likely a population of close to 1 million). And I am able to afford a house a 25 minute walk from the downtown core, with a yard, driveway and all that good stuff. It's a pretty strange concept to me that there are people who live in the heart of New York City who pay a fortunate to live in VERY small spaces. Some people are fortune enough to have rooftop access and the ability to create outdoor oases as a retreat from the bustle (the hard-edges, lack of greenery) of the city. The juxtaposition of the landscape of these gardens with the views of skyscrapers and rooftops is truly incredible. The book New York Rooftop Gardens takes you on a journey to several magical rooftop gardens, each one more inspiring than the next. This is a fantastic coffee table book and if you are as intrigued as I am I suggest you get yourself a copy. If you're from the US or Canada you can buy it HERE.
