Latest from Casa dos Outros

My Sunday posts have been and will continue to be pretty random, as Saturdays I usually end up outdoors trying to enjoy what little summer we Canadians get and then am left scrambling at the end of the night - like now! But you gotta give me points for effort! ;) Anyhoo, it has been a while (see here) since I visited Casa dos Outros, one of the best 'everyday people's homes' type of sites (IMHO), from Brazil. Here are a bunch of my favourites as of late...

Stalking leftovers

It's that time of the week. Time to stalk the leftovers, the ones that didn't make the cut. Call me particular, finicky, choosy and hard to please. Not quite right, bad photos, I need more photos please, house is amazing furniture is deplorable or even fab furniture shabby shell. Can't quite put my finger on it listings with something that has me nodding "yes". This week's finds include yet another church, a couple of cute kitchens, a tub to soak in and a little terrace full of retro finds. Click on the images to head to the listings. Inspiration for my new house

Boy do I have decorating on the brain these days! Now that we are settled in our new house (in case you missed my posts here and here earlier this week) all I can think about is what in the hell I am going to do with this blank canvas. For the past few years I have been really excited about Scandi/industrial/modern spaces in white/grey/black and lots of wood. The more time I spend in my new house, the more I realize that I have to completely re-think how I am going to decorate. This has thrown me for a loop and while it freaked me out a bit in the beginning, is starting to become more exciting and less of a daunting task. One thing I cannot get out of my head is how beautiful dark and dramatic colours would look in this house. With lots of windows and very good light coming through, I think I could totally get away with it. And with this in mind, I immediately thought of Abigail Ahern, the queen of darkness. I love how she paints out floors, ceilings, woodwork...everything! I won't be painting my floors (unfortunately) or the wood work anytime soon I am totally up for going to town on all the walls and ceilings. And Downpipe by Farrow & Ball seems to be the most perfect, dreamy colour.

If anyone has any suggestions of what I should do or ideas for paint colours let me know!

Tower of books

A house of bricks. Bricks laid in the patterns of kilims and rugs. Texture upon texture, rough against smooth. A modern interpretation of warehouse living, a striking contemporary home. A considered sense of place. Then at its core, rising like a tabernacle, an altar to the written word, the avid reader's fantasy, the tower of books. Reaching through to the second floor it is accessible by ladder or from a second floor walk way. Book storage brilliance from Melbourne based architects Jolson.

An eclectic home in France

OMG this home is A M A Z I N G! I spotted it on The Socialite Family and had to share. It is a glorously eclectic home in Nantes, France that has me devouring each space over and over again. I want to commit it to memory and dream about it every night. Yes, I love it that much. (Photos by Constance Gennari)
