m. elle

mmmmmmmm ... m. elle. It's easy to see why this mother and daughters design team (Mary Lynn Turner and Marie and Emily Turner) made Elle Decor's 5 to watch list. Sophisticated interiors throughout their portfolio but it was this mountain home that had me from the first picture. Understated elegance yes but also casual and inviting. Cocooned in dark rooms with blazing fires and layered textures. Enticed by the bright and white. It's a stone and aged wooden beam dream with conifer clad hills thrown in for free. Retreat is definitely the right word. What a wonderful interpretation to match a stunning site. So much more after the jump.

Just. Too. Gorgeous! I would love to have brunch in that breakfast nook, then spend the day reading on the chaise lounge, then sip my evening wine in the sunroom. Stunning, indeed!

Oh my goodness. I love that so many others love this style. I love it but just haven't known how to pull it together. I am just going to look at these pictures everyday. So for you in the design world (I am a do-it yourselfer on a budget) do any of you know where I could find a similar rug to the one in the great room? The linen looking rug with the stripes. Oh my goodness, I want it all. Thanks so much for posting and introducing me to m.elle's work.

Priscilla, have the decency not to talk like this in a public forum please.

"go fly a kite, I'm not on that trend train and that's that. "

Sad.

Anyway, the house is wonderful, very earthy, very little in the way of polymers, nice texture and use of space. You would very soon bond with this house. Well done girls, this place has got soul.

I would like to use an old barn door I have. Where did you order your track and sliding hinges from?

Beautiful building inside and outside. And the second thought as I looked at the pics was, if I had the money, would I do something similar?

It's pleasant, and the structure is quite beautiful. But, dare I say, I think the finished product is a bit boring and impersonal. It would be a lovely timeshare, but I prefer a home that is more expressive.
